Are you having an intention of writing a book? I got you and I feel you. I have started, followed workshops, and even started! At this moment I have other priorities, like everyone else as main reason not to start. Still, I like to share some parts of the process I have been through.
Writing towards success
If I learned one big lesson for joining workshops and reading books about writing a book, it is that the best thing to do is to start with “the end in mind”. This is an approach I also used during my University, and it worked well for me in that setting. What should be on the back of your book? And what does the front page and different chapters look like?
Another shared experience is that the most succesful people shared their writing process on socials in stead of waiting until the book is done fully and comes with one major exposure. The publishing information does not come from a personal experience.ย
What are your personal intentions for writing a book?
A question vulnerable for overthinking is Why do you wanna write this book? If you are really honest, do you wanna share your story for money? Is it a way of upgrading marketing? Or is it for example a story to be told. Being honest with myself I noticed that I had mixed intentions. I wanted the book to create a kickstart with my business for sharing the creative and intuitive path. Even though the money would be indeed interesting also, most of the book parts I wrote to express myself and feeling a sense of direction again when feeling lost. Another reason was that I liked to share my journey which in return might be an inspiration for another to learn from while also being a way to express myself.ย
When is the right timing?
I don’t think that there is a right timing for anything in the world. If it happens, it will happen. Yeah, that makes sense. Still, for me, the book doesn’t have a priority, maybe because I’m not ready to share my story yet? Or maybe, because I’m scared that it will touch my feelings of worthiness when it gets rejected, as it is such a personal story? This differs per book topic of course and book purpose!
Will there ever be a right time for it? I may need to publish it, or not wether it can be of any inspiration ready to share.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to share in the comments.
Warmly,
Anique
