What to do as a digital nomad in Chiang Mai, Thailand?
Have you heard about Chiang Mai, Thailand? It is one of the tourist hotspots for the weekend market, elephant sanctuaries, temples, nature hikes, and street food. I have stayed in Chiang Mai for around four months and like to share some places I loved or felt amazed by when visiting.
Nature and Waterfalls
Sticky waterfalls. I had a fantastic scooter day with some friends to explore nature at the sticky waterfall at the NamTok Bua Thong-Nam Phu Chet Si National Parc. I hadn’t heard anything about it before, but it was a unique and surprising experience just before I left Chiang Mai. You will get the chance to walk down a waterfall path while being able to ‘stick’ on the stones under the water. It might seem unrealistic, dangerous, and scary at first. However, you will realize that most rocks are sticky, and you can walk down with, sometimes, a bit of help from a robe. Should you be cautious? Yes! Some parts can be steep and slippery. Especially the beginning cq highest part of the trail felt challenging. On the other side, I have seen kids moving down, robes are in place when needed, and stairs are available to see the trail from a safe distance.ย
Elephant Nature Park.ย http://elephantnaturepark.org. Have you seen the pictures of people riding on elephants, and you feel it is sad for the animal? Also, do you like to hang out with the elephant but don’t want to hurt them? Elephant Nature Parc is a rescue parc for distressed elephants. It provides access to tourists who are interested in spending time with the elephants in a healthy way and learning about their stories. They almost became real heroes! It is still where many tourists come, so be prepared for tourist crowds. Also, after leaving this parc, I felt so good about the work that they are doing and the feelings of happiness and joy they spread around everyone who comes in contact with them. A very compassionate place.
In the NorthWest area, you will find Chiang Mai University and the parc Wat Pha Lat. In between, you also see the Huai Kaeo Waterfall, which is excellent for cleaning the mind and spirit and reconnecting with nature after spending time in the busy city. These are all fantastic places for fresh air close to the busy city.
Nurturing activities for the spirit
The Cocoon, Chiang Mai. Wow, what a fantastic vibe. It is a sauna and relaxing place a bit outside the center. I felt unique about the ice bath event, the enormous positivity, and the sense of community vibe. Truly visit worthy and a possibility to stay.
A chat with a monk. Are you interested in meditation, curious about how the mind works and influences it? Monks practice and study the mind continuously. So, when I heard it is possible to chat with a monk, I was more than happy to explore it. Listening to the expert’s talk was an exciting and open-minded conversation. Although trained very well, they are also human beings and could be and do better daily. Contrary to other spiritual gurus, they suggested a 30-minute meditation a day would be enough. That was a surprising eye-opener for me so far.ย
North Gate Jazz. A nomad and tourist hotspot with a music program full of expressive music ready to serve a show with start qualities. You will see the artists touching your heart and soul if you are lucky. So, look up the online program to take advantage of this hotspot for artists!
Coffee and Foods
Roast8ry. An award-winning coffee and coffee experience. As a coffee lover, I recommend trying out their coffee. I would describe the service asย cool and distant, but trying out what it means to have an award-winning coffee is a great experience. I also share that coffee has become a huge part of Chiang Mia’s culture, and exploring different coffee places is highly recommended.ย
Malee Noodle. No, it is not famous, and it is also not very special. It was just a local spot, I randomly ate, which served one of my favorite noodle soups with pork, pork ball, an egg, and big noodles. The staff probably thought I was crazy as I enjoyed it so much.ย
Blue Noodle. This is another local noodle soup that serves tasty noodly soup. Should you especially look after these food stalls? Probably not. Just in case you like to have some local food inspiration. A food stall worth looking after is a red stall at the North Gate Food Market. They serve pork leg with rice. It is delicious.ย
The Digital Nomad Area in Chiang Mai, Thailand
One Nimman area. The fancy part of the city. It is the most famous area under nomads, and it gets hyped. This is not my favorite area, but it is good to mention if you look after a more Western-style and fancy atmosphere.
